The temperature of water in a water system plays the most important part in the proliferation of legionella and therefore it is a requirement of ACoP L8 that it is monitored and recorded in the Site Logbook on a monthly basis.

There are different methods of monitoring temperatures of your water system. It can be carried out manually by taking the temperature at every asset or monitored via a sensor on each asset. As manual monitoring is time consuming and labour intensive it can be more cost effective to utilise the sensor method.

Legionella Management Solutions recommends using sensors because both temperature and flow can be determined remotely from the same sensor. These are the two components which lead to the proliferation of Legionella. Once the sensors are in place Legionella Management Solutions monitor any out of spec results and action any necessary remedials.
